Frequently Asked Questions

This site is currently in Beta phase and being tested. We do have plans to offer a UK wide directory service and to offer a more comprehensive site such as this one on a County by County basis. We are currently seeking funding for this expansion. If your organisation would like to fund a county based website, please contact us.

If you are a Community Group, Charity or Not for Profit Company based in Essex or operating in Essex and you reuse items you can add your organisation to this directory free of charge. Register by clicking the sign in/register button in the top right hand corner, after you have registered you will be able to add your organisation and branches to the Directory.

If you are a commercial business please contact us by e-mail and when this service is launched we will contact you.

If you are an organisation based outside Essex we will be launching a UK wide version and county versions in the future, subject to funding. In the meantime please contact us by e-mail and we will contact you when this facility is available.

Community Groups will normally sell your item and the cash raised will be used to help them fulfil their charitable or Community Group aims, or the item will be passed on to those in need both in the local area and in some cases, developing countries.

Community groups accept items that they are able to sell or pass on to those who can make use of the item. As an organisation they must also comply with laws relating to businesses. Your item may therefore not be accepted for one of the following reasons:

1. It does not comply with current fire regulations. This applies to soft furnishings such as sofas etc.

2. There is no current demand for the item you have. For example the group may have a lot of the items you have in stock and they are not selling well, or from past experience they know your item won't sell. An example of this at the present time is videos.

3. The item is broken or not of good enough quality to sell. Whilst some groups do refurbish certain items, most items must be in clean, good working order.

You may still be able to give away your item using one of the reuse services such as Give Or Take or others listed here or by recycling.
